To India and Back in 1914

To India and Back

You can view these resources on a smartphone if you wish but you need a tablet, laptop or workstation to do justice to much of the content.

This is an account of a voyage from Britain to India and back that started just before the outbreak of WW1. It provides a fascinating picture of the world at that time and in particular shows the attitude of the British towards India and its population in the Edwardian era.

There is also an account of the lives of two men - the author of the diaries and the Master of the vessel on which he travelled. You will have a better appreciation of the diaries if you read the introductory pages first and move through the material using the forward and backward links provided at the bottom of each page. However you can also go directly to any page via the menu from where you can also access other sections of the Benjidog Historical Research Resources website, give feedback, view the visitors book and access search facilities.
