Alert

Two British ships named Alert were lost during WW2. One was a Trinity House vessel and the other a Cable Ship. Having checked details of individuals named on the panel this must have been the Cable ship. This vessel was of 941 GRT and was sunk by a mine on 24 February 1945 at position 51° 21' N 01° 37' E. The CWGC added the name of Mr. Voss in 2013 - please see the Addenda panel HERE.

The CWGC database includes four seamen as crew members of this ship but records their Date of Death as 21 March 1943. I do not know why as I can find no information of another ship with this name.
